Handle with care
  • Wash your hair on a weekly basis- washing your hair on a bi-weekly basis allows topical debris to set in on the scalp, preventing hair growth. Wash the hair every two weeks only if the hair is braided
  • Deep condition hair on a weekly basis- there is an exception to this rule. If you are a swimmer or if you work out frequently at the gym, then you should deep condition your hair every three days. Apply a leave-in conditioner to your hair every day
  • Invest in a high quality steam dryer to incorporate hot oil and steam treatments into your hair regimen; great for maintaining manageability- the Pibbs 514 Quick Dri Hair Dryer with Castor Base is a phenomenal yet expensive tool to use but it yields tremendous benefits for your scalp, especially if you do not regularly exercise. The experience of this dryer to your scalp is similar to a relaxing day in the spa
  • Never allow hair to air dry, unless the hair is set in a style, such as twists, braids, or roller sets- this is true, especially for natural hair. Always make sure that your hair air dries in a style to prevent frizz and minimize volume
  • Purchase a hooded dryer; one that is ionic and tourmaline-based  such as the Hype Hair Ionic Hard Bonnet Dryer for deep conditioning treatments
  • Create a natural hair care kit with the following items: shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, setting lotion, oils, moisturizers, hair pomades, hair butters, detangling spray, hair freshners, wide-tooth combs, tourmaline or ionic paddle brush, vent brush, round brush, 100% boar bristle brush, plastic caps, hooded dryer, rollers, clips, and silk scarves
