Supplies
- Acrylic yarn (selected color) [wool yarn locs hair intentionally]
- Hair shears (at least 5 inches)
- Lighter (Bic) or perm-rods (if you opt for the hot-water method)
- Rat-tail comb (for easy parting)
- Liquid moisturize (for natural hair and yarn)
- 5 duck bill clips (to section hair while braiding)
- Shea butter (to moisturize scalp)
- Use three strands of yarn for your braid. Interlock one strand over two strands.
- Latch yarn onto natural hair at scalp. Criss-cross from left to right.
- Separate natural hair into two and interweave natural hair with a single section of yarn.
- Continue to braid until you've reached desired length.
- Tie the ends using a slip knot. Ravel 2-3 times. Clip loose ends.
- Burn ends with a lighter or use perm-rods to curls ends and dip in hot water for 7 minutes.
- Moisturize entire scalp with shea butter.
